City Lights Gallery Presents Limited-Time “IRISH FLARE EXPO” photography exhibition

Opening Reception on March 11 Benefits Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick’s Day Celebration 

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (February 26, 2020) – Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, City Lights Gallery, 265 Golden Hill Street, presents “Irish Flare EXPO,” featuring stunning photographs of the Emerald isle by Bethel artist Marion Lynott and Newtown artist Phil Keane. The exhibition takes place March 11-14, with an opening reception scheduled for Wednesday, March 11, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the gallery.

The reception, which features arts and crafts from Peggy’s Cottage and Ogham Art, is a benefit for the Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick’s Day Parade Celebration. A $5 suggested donation includes music, wine and light refreshments, and 10 percent of proceeds of art sales will go to support the parade.

Exhibition hours are: March 11, 5:30-8:30 pm; March 12-13, 11:30 am-5 pm; March 14, 9 am-noon. There is a $5 suggested donation for the reception on 3/11/20. General admission to the gallery is free and open to the public on 3/12 &13/2020.

“City Lights is pleased to welcome another important cultural exhibit to our gallery space,” said City Lights Executive Director Suzanne Kachmar. “Art is truly a way that traditions are continued and celebrated for many immigrant populations and cultural groups, like the Irish, as we celebrate St Patrick’s Day. City Lights gladly hosts Irish Flare Expo pop-up exhibit. The opening night will be extra special — along with art and artisanal items, guest will enjoy traditional Irish music and my favorite, Irish soda bread!”

Irish Flare Photography, Originally from County Mayo, Ireland, Lynott is an avid photographer with a passion for landscapes who loves spending time outdoors capturing the small centricities of animals and nature. This exhibition includes some earlier works from her “Memories of Home” collection, as well as a few new Irish nature photos.

Irish Flare Photography, LLC is available for event photography, both corporate and personal, as well as First Holy Communions, senior portrait, professional lifestyle shoots and any occasion where a moment in time needs to be captured. Ogham Art is a specialty gift business featuring items written in Ogham. Ogham, the earliest written form of the Irish language, dates back to at least the 4th century A.D. To this day its origins largely remain a mystery.

Phil Keane of Newtown is the creative force behind Blue Sky Farms.  Keane cut his teeth on Madison Avenue in New York City and now focuses his work in Connecticut.  His beautiful photography will be on exhibit.

Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee organizes events yearround to support the Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick’s Day parade. Their next event is a 5K Road Race on Sunday, March 15, at Murphy’s Law Pub in Downtown Bridgeport.
